Gulaab Gang is an upcoming Indian Hindi drama film presented by Bharat Shah, directed by a debutant director Soumik Sen and produced by Anubhav Sinha, starring Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla in the lead roles. The trailer released on 10th January 2014.
Regarded as Dixit’s comeback film, a group of Indian women dressed in pink coloured saris, fighting against the social injustice, operating in Bundelkhand Uttar and Madhya Pradesh (central India). The film shooting started in October 2012. Initially, it was reported that the movie was based on Sampat Pal’s life to evolute “Gulabi Gang”, but the director refused on this respect that he obliged her work but the movie is not based on her life. The first schedule of the film involving Dixit started in December 2012 and was wrapped up in January 2013. Dixit reported that the first schedule ended with a “high energy song” choreographed by Saroj Khan. Dixit and Khan together have given various hit songs to Bollywood, including “Ek do teen” (Tezaab), “Choli ke peeche” (Khalnayak), “Dhak dhak karne laga” (Beta) and lately “Maar daala” (Devdas). As film is based on the rural parts of India, cast including Dixit would be portraying de-glamorous roles. In December 2012, Juhi Chawla, who is playing another lead character in the film, also joined the shoot at Kamalistan Studios, Mumbai. Chawla is reported to play her first role with the negative shades.
